Alone.
November 2016 - Just over 6 years since my first trip to Japan - can’t believe it was that long ago…
Why do some people frown upon those who do like to do things by themselves? I’ve never understood it. Being alone is not the same as being lonely. I’m quite happy doing things by myself, whether that's travelling, grabbing a bite to eat, going to the cinema, the list could go on…
Sometimes it’s just easier. People can be busy (or annoying) and it can be hard to arrange a time - so rather than waiting (because I can be a bit impatient) I just do it myself. I went to watch a couple movies by myself last year and honestly it was a great time - didn’t have to message anyone to arrange a time, didn’t have to wait for anyone's confirmation, booked it for the most convenient time and went. Quick and easy.
It’s not that I necessarily prefer it to going with people, it's just that they’re entirely different experiences and I‘m okay with either. If people are available to come then great, if not then I’m still content. I feel like people who find it weird to go to places or doing activities alone aren’t truly comfortable with themselves.
That’s it - sayonara.
