Purple Sky Over New York

September 2015 - Taken from the Empire State building - I got lost on the subway for 2 hours after this.

I travelled to New York before my exchange year at the University of Chicago. It’s pretty surreal seeing a city you’ve seen so much in movies and tv shows in person - but damn what a city. You’ll probably strain your neck a bit constantly staring up at the buildings in this concrete jungle during the first few days - well if you’re anything like me and are in awe of cool buildings you will. Of course, the first song I played when I got off the plane was Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys & Jay Z.

Tip: Always time your trip to viewing platforms and such so that you get to see daylight, sunset and nightfall. Buildings like the Rockefeller Center require you to pre-book a time slot so make sure you do that beforehand to avoid disappointment.
